On the weekend of the 21st of September, I went to celebrate the opening of Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Oktoberfest began as a wedding celebration more than 200 years ago when Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on Oct. 12, 1810. The wedding was celebrated with multiple days of drinking, feasting and horse races. The celebration then became an annual event in which millions of people travel to Munich to experience where it all began. Everyone dresses in either dirndls or Bavarian gear to appreciate the culture and this long tradition. On top of that, I got to explore Munich at night, and it's absolutely beautiful! It's amazing to look at architecture that is thousands of years old in a city with such rich history.
