Irish Plays

Reading with a view. We are learning all about Irish playwrights, and my scene is from the famous play By the Bog of Cats by Marina Carr. I love this play, because it gives me insight of certain issues Irish people have to face that live outside of the city and big touristy areas. My scene is the one between Caroline and Hester, where we first meet Caroline on her wedding day. She is marrying Hester's former lover, and Hester babysat her when she was a young child. I highly recommend this play, even though it's extremely heavy and emotional. The writing is beautiful and tells the story of an Irish traveler facing hardship.
